Scholarship Applicant Requirements

  • Hold a current Texas RN license
  • Be a resident of Texas
  • Applicant must have completed at least 25% of an accredited Masters Nurse Practitioner Program or Post Masters Certificate Nurse Practitioner Program or a Nurse Practitioner who has completed at least 25% of an accredited Doctoral Nursing Program. A letter of verification of current enrollment status must be included from the Program Director, stating whether enrolled part-time or full time in the program.
  • Have a GPA of 3.0 or higher, and
  • Be a regular or student member of Texas Nurse Practitioners
  • Each scholarship shall be a one-time monetary award given directly to the individuals selected 
  • Submit the application prior to the deadline with all required information. 

The Katie Russell Memorial Scholarship Fund has been established to provide an annual scholarship to a TNP member who is enrolled in a pediatric nurse practitioner program or enrolled to further pediatric education in Texas

 ABSTRACT SELECTION PROCESS
The TNP Education Committee will review all speaker abstracts submitted. The Education Committee will make selections based on abstract content, speaker qualifications, content related to the interest of nurse practitioners, and conformity within the conference curriculum.
Presenters will be notified within 3 weeks of submission if the abstract is accepted. Please be prepared to submit an abbreviated resume/CV if you are selected.

Call for Abstracts: Presentations

Texas Nurse Practitioners (TNP) 2026 Annual Conference
Thursday, September 24 – Saturday, September 26, 2026

The Texas Nurse Practitioners (TNP) Education Committee invites submissions for abstracts to present at the TNP 2026 Annual Conference. You may submit for one or more of the following formats:

  1. 3-Hour Workshop (Thursday, September 24)
  2. One-Hour Presentation Session (Friday, September 25 or Saturday, September 26)
  3. Pecha Kucha (20 minutes, 20 slides; Friday or Saturday)

This is an opportunity to share your expertise with advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs) and contribute to the advancement of nurse practitioner practice.

Important Reminders

  • All presentations must be free of bias (e.g., no industry or pharmaceutical slides). Slides may require advance review by the TNP Education Committee.
  • Specify the number of minutes addressing Texas Board of Nursing requirements for each objective, including:
     
    • O = Opioids
    • J = Jurisprudence
    • E = Ethics
    • PMP = Prescription Monitoring Program
    • G = Geriatrics
    • RX = Pharmacology

  • High-quality abstracts may be invited to convert to a poster presentation or to present at the TNP Pharmacology Conference.

The Texas Nurse Practitioners (TNP) Education Committee invites you to submit an abstract for a poster presentation at the TNP 2026 Annual Conference. This is an opportunity to showcase your work to a diverse audience of advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs) and contribute to the advancement of nurse practitioner practice.

Abstract Selection Process

The TNP Education Committee will review all submitted poster abstracts. Selections will be based on the following criteria:

  • Relevance of abstract content to the interests of nurse practitioners.
  • Alignment with TNP’s mission, vision, and values (visit www.texasnp.org for details).

Poster Presenter Requirements

Presenters are required to:

  • Register for the conference for at least the day of their presentation.
  • Consult their school of nursing for poster standards, if applicable.
  • Submit a photo of the poster to bella@texasnp.org for Education Committee review prior to the conference.
  • Review the grading rubric provided upon abstract approval.
  • Set up the poster on the morning of the presentation and remove it at the end of the day.
  • For students: Be scheduled to graduate prior to the conference (not the application deadline) and have a sponsoring faculty member.

Optional Opportunity: Best Poster Award Consideration


Please note that you are not required to complete the following process to present your poster at the conference. However, if you wish to be considered for the Best Poster Award, you must commit to and submit the following materials on or before August 1, 2026:

1.  A PDF of your final poster.

2.  A voice-over PowerPoint presentation of your research, project, or case, with a maximum recording time of 5 minutes.

3.  Attendance at the fall conference.

Late submissions will not be accepted, and presentations exceeding the 5-minute maximum time limit will be disqualified from award consideration. These requirements ensure a fair and consistent evaluation process for all applicants.

Conducting Research

TNP supports research initiatives by providing opportunities for current members to conduct research online and at TNP Conferences.  

Submission Process

The researcher must submit the form below at least 30 days before their proposed research project starts. Required information includes how the research will be utilized and how the data will be protected. TNP’s Research Committee will review the research request and determine if it is accepted.

Submission Requirements

  • The research must be designed to treat all individuals fairly, and the procedure must be based on fair procedures that will not overburden TNP participants.
  • The researcher must ensure that all participants clearly understand the commitments in the agreement to participate in the study.
  • The researcher must receive formal confirmation from TNP to collect the data.
  • The researcher must provide proof of IRB approval before conducting the research.
  • The research proposal must contain appropriate tools for the research setting.
  • The research reflects quality that is consistent with TNP standards.
  • The research aims to further individual research/project needs, not institutional, organizational, or company initiatives.

Fee

Administrative fees of $100.00 for current TNP members, whether done through an online survey or at a TNP meeting. The researcher will be responsible for any additional costs associated with conducting the research. TNP will provide an approval letter to conduct the study for the researcher and invoicing as appropriate.

Permissions

Permission to conduct the research is at the discretion of the TNP Research Taskforce. Coordinating and scheduling research requests and sending out the online link to survey participants are at the discretion of the TNP CEO, so there is no interruption in TNP business activities. A maximum of two emails will be sent to TNP members on behalf of the researcher. Upon approval, TNP will work with the researcher to create a schedule for the research project.

Texas Nurse Practitioner Foundation (TNPF) is organized exclusively for charitable, educational, and scientific purposes, including, for such purposes, the making of distributions to organizations that qualify as exempt organization under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, or corresponding section of any future federal tax code.

Specifically, the goals of this Foundation shall be to:

1. Distribute Resources – Provide financial resources that advance the Nurse Practitioner profession, including but not limited to:

    a. providing scholarships for registered nurses who are pursuing further education to become nurse practitioners; 

   b.  providing financial assistance for nurse practitioners pursuing an advanced nursing degree;

   c.  awarding grants to nurse practitioners proposing or engaged in research, that is relevant to advanced    nursing professions; 

   d. awarding grants to community projects promoting and improving access to health care for all Texans; 

   e. serving as a collaborative partner to organizations with similar missions and goals;

   f.  awarding funding, as available, to organizations promoting continuing education that support the nurse practitioner professions; and

   g.  providing short-term, immediate financial assistance to eligible Texas Nurse Practitioner members who are victims of a disaster due to fire, flood, accidents, or other disasters.

2.  Develop Resources – build the financial resources needed to support the advancement of the Nurse Practitioner profession.

3.  Promote Professional Awareness – Promote public awareness of the Nurse Practitioner role. 

4.  Support Foundation Sustainability – Maintain the leadership and systems necessary for long-term growth and success of the Foundation.

5.  Enhance partnerships between the professional association, community partners, and the Foundation.

6.  Engage in any legal activity approved by the board that supports the mission of TNPF.

In alignment with this purpose, TNPF has developed a Research Support Grant program to help fund open access for research conducted by TNP members in peer review journals which is relevant to advanced practice nursing, promotes access to health care for all Texans and/or promotes public awareness of the Nurse Practitioner role. TNP members who wish to apply for a Research Support Grant, must complete an application.

  • Personal statement (Max. 200 words. Please introduce yourself and why you chose to pursue this research.)
  • One letter of support (from either advisor or research collaborator)
  • CV
  • Letter of Acceptance from a Journal
  • Description of process and fee associated with providing this study with open access
